The Original Picky Pooch
Oslo is French and true to his cultural heritage a picky pooch. As a 9-week-old puppy he came to live with us, his new human family and was a challenge when it came to eating. He was given a mixture of the best available dry food, raw chicken necks, and when he was older marrow bones. When it came to treats all he was interested in was cheese (very French!) and cooked chicken. He would turn up his French puppy nose at dog treats and look at me in disgust that I should expect him to eat ‘that’!

Learning about K9 Nutrition
I started to read the labels on treats and soon realised I had a picky pooch with very good reason. I started to bake my own treats for him using human ingredients from my pantry, I also started to learn about canine nutrition and with Oslo’s kind help over time developed healthy treats that he loved.

The Itchy Pooch
We relocated again this time from France to Australia, originally from the UK this would be our fourth house in as many years, we were very busy setting up our new life, the baking of pooch treats went out the window and in with the supermarket shopping came a well know variety of dog treats. Oslo quite liked them and perhaps after being in quarantine for 30 days he was happy to give them a go! Within a matter of weeks he started to develop skin irritations – that was it! Out went the so-called ‘treats’ with the trash, as did Oslo’s skin irritations.

Picky Pooch Puppy
Along came Lhotse a little sister for Oslo, she is also a food connoisseur, she loves her food but will still turn up her cute little nose if it’s not the ‘right’ food or treat! With more canine nutrition research, lots more baking and testing on my pooches and pooch palls, Picky Pooch was born!

You are what you eat
I am often asked by fellow pooch people “what do you feed your dogs they look so shiny and healthy?” Well you are what you eat and it’s the same for dogs. They are fed a diet of the best quality dry food along with my home made roo & vegetable loaf, marrow bones, fish and occasional cooked liver oh and the odd pigs ear of course! My pooches only go to the vet for their yearly jabs and occasional accidents (two big bouncy Weimarners = trouble!) they never need to have their teeth cleaned and dont suffer from any skin irritations.
